As an alumni of Tulare Union High School, I proudly call myself a Redskin. Students who currently attend Tulare Union, or have in the past, can all agree that we have not taken any actions that are derogatory towards the name "Redskins". We as students have portrayed nothing but pride and uppermost respect for the Redskin name, and I would like to personally invite any politician to pay a visit to our campus and witness the pride and respect that our school displays everyday towards the Redskins. Tulare Union has been around for over 100 years, and the respect levels are through the roof. Tulare Union has also received the approval of the local tribes, who have personally visited the campus and witnessed the pride and love that students have for their school and mascot. We honor the Redskin name in every single way possible, and every inch of our school shows nothing but respect and pride. Taking away the mascot name Redskins is like taking away a  part of someones history and culture. There are many families in Tulare who have had many generations attend Tulare Union, and if you ask any Tulare Union alumni where they went to high school they will proudly say, " I went to Tulare Union, and I will always be a Redskin till the day I die." Get a first hand experience of the love and pride that is displayed on the campus, and invite any former or current Tulare Union student and explain to them your reasons of why being a Redskin is offensive and  why it should be banned. At the very least, before you try to take away Tulare's most richest historical mascot, at least have the dignity of going to our town and telling us why you want to take away what we have the uppermost respect for. Whether the Redskin name gets removed or not, our Redskin pride will live on forever.
